Building Great Habbits

Some years ago I started feeling slightly sluggish ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ, was out of breath after just a short walk yet on the outside I looked very normal. But I felt something was off, so I decided to do something about it. I started by working out to only 30-minute dance videos just two days a week. It was fun, I looked forward to it and i love dancing so I had a great time. Today, 5 years later I maintain the same physical out look, I work out 3 times a week and I still enjoy it, 90% of the time๐Ÿ˜‰. Often I am asked by my colleagues, “how do you stay consistent day after day, how do you maintain your body” and “ I also want to exercise but its soo hard”. I tell them constantly to find an exercise that makes them happy๐Ÿ˜Š while doing it and they will start liking to exercise as much as I do. Most times people workout as if they are taking sour medicine and this just makes the process harder and more painful.   As I read “Atomic Habits: Master the Art of Lasting Change” , I realised what...

Prioritise yourself

This week I pondered about prioritizing myself visa a vie other relationships, it can be over whelming ๐Ÿ˜Ÿto be everything for every on all the time. Now leave alone the obligations you are born with as a daughter, sister and maybe an auntie to my nieces and nephews. Now let’s concentrate on the social relationships we are choosing to be part of currently. I have friends that will be there through thick and thin, through good and bad and these I offer the highest level of priority in terms of time, energy and focus. I also have seasonal friends, they are there when all is good and seem to disappear when you need them and when they need you, they will stop at nothing to get it from you. To these friends I approach with caution and give them less of my time and energy. I also have friends that have made changes in their lives and now they have other priorities instead of me and that is fine. But I have to create healthy boundaries for these friends because if not watched they will...

Roller coaster of emotions

It normally turns on and off in different circumstances. One minute I am happy, next I am frustrated then I am anxious and finally I feel calm. After a very long time on this roller coaster of emotions I realized it doesn’t have to be like this, my emotions don’t have to dictate how my day goes. Through small intentional steps in listening before I talk, paying attention to my triggers and taking a moment to respond especially in a heated situation and reading very widely has helped me ride my emotions and enjoy the ride I have. I am definately on the journey to getting better day by day.
